Bill Cahir, 40, a journalist who enlisted in the United States Marine Corps at age 34 after 9/11 and served two tours of duty in Iraq before being deployed to the war he wanted to fight — Afghanistan — where he was killed on August 13, 2009 by enemy gunfire in Helmand province.
