The count included Iraqi civilians, military, and police but not U.S. military deaths, insurgents, or foreigners (including contractors), and it did not include the first months of the war after the 2003 U.S. invasion.

As such, I predicted that — unlike most serial killers — he was unlikely to be captured alive to face charges. He was shot dead shortly afterwards in a standoff with police.
