Minnesota 6th Congressional District (MN-06) voters have two fiscally conservative options on the Nov. 2 general election ballot as sane, rational alternatives to the paranoid extremist neocon Michele Bachmann — Independence Party nominee Bob Anderson and unaffiliated, independent conservative Aubrey Immelman.

Yes, Michele Bachmann continues to ignore local media in favor of FOX and Beck. But aren’t there three parties involved, each with a candidate seeking the MN 6 congressional seat? And there is Aubrey Immelman, running without party affiliation.

Excerpt

It seems in noting Bachmann’s declining to respond, the ABC papers indirectly note their own declining to address or acknowledge a quite viable third party candidacy [Bob Anderson]. Beyond that, Aubrey Immelman of St. Cloud is a third fiscal conservative candidate running for the seat, as a candidate apart from each of the three parties. [links added]

14 Americans Dead in Afghanistan

Video
Deadly hours in Afghanistan (NBC Nightly News, Oct. 26, 2009) — An Army helicopter went down in the west of the country after leaving the scene of a firefight, killing 10 Americans. A second crash involving two U.S. Marine helicopters killed 4 more Americans, marking the heaviest single loss of American lives in Afghanistan since 2005. NBC’s Richard Engel reports. (02:56)

One year ago today, I reported that two helicopter crashes killed 14 Americans in Afghanistan — 11 troops and three drug enforcement agents — in the deadliest day for the U.S. mission in Afghanistan in more than four years.

Write-in Campaign: Day 8

Michele Bachmann in Minnesota’s 6th Congressional District, I reported that Iraq’s largest Sunni Arab political party suspended all dealings with U.S. civilian and military personnel after U.S. and Iraqi forces carried out a raid in which a senior official of Vice President Tareq al-Hashemi’s Iraqi Islamic Party was killed.

I also posted links to personality profiles of presidential candidates John McCain and Barack Obama, with implications for their likely leadership style as president, developed at the Unit for the Study of Personality in Politics, which I direct.
