Following are security developments in Iraq on Friday, June 12, 2009 as reported by Reuters.

BAGHDAD – Police said a gunman killed the head of parliament’s biggest Sunni Muslim bloc [Harith al-Ubaidi or the Accordance Front] and five other people at a mosque in the west of the capital.

BAGHDAD – A roadside bomb wounded six civilians in eastern Baghdad’s New Baghdad district, police said.

MUSSAYAB – A police officer shot dead two government-backed militia members as they were planting a bomb in the north of Mussayab, 37 miles south of the capital, police said.

Following are security developments in Iraq on Thursday, June 11, 2009 as reported by Reuters.

BAGHDAD – A roadside bomb targeted a U.S. military patrol, wounding one soldier and one Iraqi civilian, in the Talbiya area of east Baghdad, the U.S. military said. Iraqi police said one civilian was killed and four wounded in the blast.

BAGHDAD – A sticky bomb attached to a car wounded the driver and two passers-by in the Mansour district of western Baghdad, police said.

BAGHDAD – Four people were wounded by a roadside bomb near al-Mustansiriya Square in northern Baghdad, police said.

MOSUL – A car bomb targeted an Iraqi army patrol and wounded three soldiers and one civilian in southern Mosul, 240 miles north of Baghdad, police said.

Following are security developments in Iraq on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 as reported by Reuters.

BUHRIZ – Seven suspected members of al Qaeda were detained during a raid in Buhriz, 35 miles northeast of Baghdad, police said.

NASSIRIYA – A car bomb ripped through a crowded market killing 33 people and wounding 70 others west of Nassiriya, 185 miles southeast of Baghdad, a local official said.

HAWIJA – Two gunmen were killed when they were planting a roadside bomb in Hawija, 130 miles north of Baghdad, police said.

MOSUL – A roadside bomb wounded a woman and her daughter in northeastern Mosul, 240 miles north of Baghdad, on Tuesday, police said.

FALLUJA – A bomb planted on a parked motorcycle killed a child and wounded five civilians in Falluja, 32 miles west of Baghdad, on Tuesday, police said.

FALLUJA – A roadside bomb targeting a police patrol wounded two policemen in central Falluja on Tuesday, police said.

Following are security developments in Iraq on Monday, June 8, 2009 as reported by Reuters.

BAGHDAD – A bomb attached to a minibus killed seven people and wounded 24 others at a bus terminal in southern Baghdad. An aide to Baghdad security spokesman Major General Qassim Moussawi gave a lower toll of five killed, 18 wounded.

MOSUL – A suicide bomber targeting an army base wounded two civilians in Mosul, 240 miles north of Baghdad, police said.

FALLUJA – A roadside bomb killed two policemen and wounded a third late on Sunday in Falluja, 32 miles west of Baghdad, police said.

MOSUL – Two policemen were killed in an ambush in Mosul late on Sunday, police said.
