Bill Clinton Calls Michele Bachmann Divorced from Reality on Health Care

Former President Bill Clinton just told representatives of the world’s leading economic powers that Rep. Michele Bachmann exists in a parallel universe divorced from reality when it comes to America’s position in the world, especially with regards to health care policy. …

“Michele Bachmann said in her Tea Party response to President Obama, ‘Everybody knows we have the greatest health care system in the world,” Clinton said. “That is factually untrue. That’s not true.”

“You can get the best health care in the world in America if you are Bill Clinton, or David Gergen or Turki Faisal, but that’s not the same thing as having the best system that works for everybody,” he told the audience. “I think what America needs as much as anything else is to stop conducting its politics in a parallel universe divorced from reality with no facts.” …

One year ago today, I reported that U.S. Marines fired smoke rounds and armored vehicles maneuvered close to Taliban positions to test insurgent defenses ahead of an anticipated attack on Marjah, the biggest militant-controlled town in southern Afghanistan.

Two years ago today, on Feb. 10, 2009, I reported a new poll showing plummeting support among the Afghan people for the Kabul government and U.S. and European troops trying to bolster it against the Taliban insurgency.
